Bananas

On Sunday the 20th Emery tried solid food for the first time! Of course it was a family affair, she had an audience of my whole family.

First bite!

Not so sure what to think.

Encouraging her to open her mouth.
She did really well for her first experience with food and has now also tried carrots and sweet potatoes.

Bed Head

This girl has some crazy hair in the morning (and pretty much all the time) but I've never seen anyone look so cute when they first wake up! This is tame compared to most mornings but I happened to have the camera near enough to get a picture.

First Hair Cut

Emery got her first hair cut! Well it was really more of a trim of the longest hairs around her neck. Of course she didn't want to hold still and it was tricky to do. I was sad that my baby needed her hair cut already but I think it improved the look of her hair a bit.

She wasn't sure what to think.
I realize I should have taken a "after" picture but for some reason that didn't cross my mind at the time. Instead here our some pictures of Emery and I ready for our daily walk.

She was smiling at the cat here.

5 Month Wonder

Emery is 5 months old (a little older now since this post is late, fortunately I took the pictures on time)!! As always here's what she has been up to the past month...

Her first tooth broke through the day after she turned 5 months!
Sometimes when we sing to her she starts singing with us.
She started army crawling.
She is a pro at sitting up by herself.
She's been a little fussy due to the teething but in general is still a happy baby.
She gets to sit up in the bath now.
She is starting to get stranger and seperation anxiety.
She does not like getting dressed, especially when she has to put her arms through the sleeves.
She gives hugs (I love them so much).
She likes hugging her toys.
She likes it when we say to her "mamamamama" or "dadadadada."
She likes when daddy "brings her toys to life," giving them voices and movement.
She weighs 14lbs 8oz (50th percentile) and is 25 1/5 inches (60th)

Christmas

Christmas morning we got up early so we could go to the service and breakfast at church. Afterwards we headed over to the Garner's to see Jonah's family and open gifts.

All the kids opening their presents from us.

The littlest Trevino cousins

My family all gathered for Christmas in the afternoon.

Cousins in front of the tree, the kids sang jingle bells and Emery had a few bells that she shook a couple times as her contribution.

We opened presents and then Emery was all worn out and ready for a nap.

We had a fancy dinner.

Playing with new toys.

Micah picked and cut out this ornament for Emery (so sweet!).

My dad made this ornament for Emery.

Overall it was a busy but good celebration and so nice to be able to see both our families without having to travel.

Christmas Eve

We decided to open our presents as a family on Christmas Eve evening so that we wouldn't have to be rushed on Christmas day. We wanted to take a family picture in front of our tree before we opened presents but Jonah had one gift for me to open before the picture, it was a remote for my camera (notice I'm holding it in the picture) how perfect for taking our picture!

Emery with her present before opening it. She did a good job again with some help from Dad this time.

She took the bow off all by herself without any prompting!

Jonah also got me a tripod so I had to try it out in a low light situation with my remote. It worked great!

We had such a nice little Christmas time together and I was glad we decided to do it when we didn't feel like we needed to rush.
