Time to Jam

We finally got around to making our yearly strawberry jam, YUM! Evan helped this year and needed a little convincing that it was a good idea to smash strawberries with your hands but once he got started he liked it a lot.

Evan and I squished, mom cut the stems off and Sarah cooked.

After hearing the news about Ken on Tuesday Dad, Mom, Sarah, and I left that night to drive to Texas to spend time with Vickie, Brenna, and Garrett and be there for the service on Thursday. It is about a 24 hour drive from our house to the Ghents and things get a little interesting after being in a vehicle for so many hours....

Eating at Whataburger for dinner, obviously it was one of the more exciting things to happen!

Vickie requested pictures of the flowers from the service and I was more than happy to take some.

Garrett suggested eating at the Dog Pound for lunch on Saturday before heading back to California. This was a place Ken had liked to eat at and had introduced Garrett to.

I'm not usually a big fan of hot dogs but these were exceptionally good!

I was really glad I was able to get off work and spend time with the Ghents, it was neat to hear all the stories that were being told. They are such an amazing family, each of them have such beautiful hearts filled with love for God and His people.

Well Done

On Tuesday morning Ken Ghent passed from this life into eternity with his Heavenly Father. Ken had been battling cancer for the past two years. We rejoice because we know he is now completely healed from all suffering but grieve because his presence here on earth as a husband, father, great friend, and a man of God will be deeply missed.

Friday night show

Friday night I got the opportunity to play music at Wildflower Cafe of Exeter. It was alot of fun. I had plenty of support from my and Michelle's family. There were also some friends that came. Jesse, a friend of ours, joined me and played backup guitar and the hammered dulcimer which I believe is an Irish instrument. I had fun and was glad to play again, it had been a long time since I played a show. Michelle took awesome photos as usual so enjoy!

Giant Visitor

Last night while we were getting ready for bed, Jonah went outside to turn off the shop light. He came back in and said that there was a huge spider outside the bathroom on the wall. I, of course, had to go take a look! I was quite shocked when I saw this sucker, not only was he very large but I hadn't really seen other spiders like him before and he was eating a crane fly. I in turn had to go tell Dad that we had a huge spider outside our door and he came and looked too.

I wish there was something else in the picture to compare him to because he doesn't look so big all by himself. However, I was NOT about to stick my hand close enough to be in the picture.

Dominoe

Michelle and I have been enjoying working the same schedule at the Wildflower Cafe. This is great because we get off at the same time and can enjoy hanging out. Today we spent some time making cool dominoe figures and knocking them down. It was fun and we made a video of our first one. It did not turn out as well as it looked. The second one was much better.
